SIEM REAP, CAMBODIA

JAN 30 – FEB 14, 2008

I was so thankful to come back and visit my friends in Cambodia for the SDA camp meeting in Siem Reap, held at the orphanage, school and bible training center, Wat Preah Yesu. I went with a small group from all over the US (and some non-US) organized by ASAP (Adventist Southeast Asia Projects).

There were medical, dental and a VBS (Vacation Bible School) childrens’ program. I was so blessed working with the kids and God taught me many lessons of His care for even the small details of our lives.

It was great to see my friends from the Cambodian Adventist School again, and I think they were happy that God provided for me to come back. We worked with almost 400 young people (from ages 1-15), singing, telling bible stories, making crafts, giving health talks, and memorizing God’s promises in scripture.

There were also different spiritual workshops and bible studies available for the adults, and I got to hear two of my favorite speakers for the morning and evening talks: Dan Augsburger and my brother! I was also so inspired by the testimonies of faith from the Maddoxs family who manage the orphanage and training center. God has protected, provided and blessed them as they stepped out in faith. I am praying that God would help me learn that kind of trust in Him. At the end of campmeeting, over 380 people decided to make a commitment to Christ through baptism. I have been praying for them daily and can’t wait to hear someday how God worked in their lives.

ASAP and Salt Ministries have various projects, humanitarian and evangelism driven. For the last few days of the trip, we got to visit the various ASAP projects such as literacy schools, and an AIDS hospice.

If you feel impressed to help these ministries, but can’t go and serve, please consider making a donation. They are totally funded by donations and prayer!
